Good Friday lands on April 3 this year - 11 days away. It is the most solemn day of Holy Week, and for many Christians, it is also the most intentional. No ordinary playlists. No background noise. Just music and stories that match the weight of the day.
Here is everything JubileeCast recommends for Good Friday 2026 - what to listen to, what to watch, and where to find it.
WHAT TO LISTEN TO
Start here: Phil Wickham - Sunday's Coming
If there is one song built specifically for the space between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, it is this one. Wickham wrote it to hold both days at once - the grief of Friday and the hope of what follows.
"Friday's good 'cause Sunday's coming / Don't lose hope 'cause Sunday's coming."

Build your playlist around the Cross
Good Friday calls for music that slows you down and points you to the crucifixion - not triumphant Easter anthems yet. The right playlist for this day moves from lament to quiet hope. Here are the songs that do that best:
- "O Come to the Altar" - Elevation Worship. An invitation. Perfect for a reflective Good Friday morning.
- "Living Hope" - Phil Wickham. Grounds the resurrection in the suffering that came before it.
- "At the Cross (Love Ran Out)" - Chris Tomlin. Direct, theological, emotionally honest.
- "Nothing But the Blood" - Hillsong Worship. Ancient text, fresh arrangement - stops you in your tracks.
- "Were You There" - Any version. The oldest Good Friday spiritual in American Christian music. Still unmatched.
- "Good and Gracious King" - CityAlight. A quiet, hymn-like meditation on the crucifixion that deserves far more attention.
- "Holy Forever" - Chris Tomlin. One of the most streamed worship songs on Christian platforms, holding a top spot in 2026 church usage rankings. It belongs on every sacred day playlist this season.
Where to stream right now: Open Spotify, Apple Music, or Amazon Music and search "Good Friday worship 2026" - all three platforms have created official Christian Music Month destinations this March, meaning curated playlists and featured artists are front and center through Easter.
WHAT TO WATCH
In Theaters: The Ten Commandments - 70th Anniversary 4K Restoration
This is the big one for 2026. The legendary biblical epic The Ten Commandments is returning to theaters nationwide in a special 70th-anniversary 4K restoration, giving audiences the chance to experience the iconic film on the big screen during the Passover and Easter season.
Originally released in 1956 and directed by Cecil B. DeMille, the film stars Charlton Heston as Moses and Yul Brynner as Pharaoh - telling the dramatic biblical story of how God delivered the people of Israel from slavery in Egypt. Jubileecast More than six decades later, The Ten Commandments remains one of the highest-grossing films of all time when adjusted for inflation, and its themes of faith, liberation, and obedience to God have made it a perennial favorite around Passover and Easter.

At Home: Streaming picks for Good Friday night
If theaters aren't an option, these are the films and specials worth putting on after sunset:
- The Passion of the Christ (2004) - Mel Gibson's unflinching account of the crucifixion. Still the most visceral cinematic treatment of Good Friday ever made. Available on Prime Video.
- Jesus of Nazareth (1977) - Franco Zeffirelli's miniseries. Long, slow, and deeply reverent. Perfect for Good Friday.
- I Can Only Imagine - The MercyMe origin story. Not a crucifixion film, but a resurrection-of-a-life story that hits differently on Good Friday. Available on multiple platforms.
- I Can Only Imagine 2 - Currently in theaters. Features Tim Timmons, whose real-life story of faith is one of the most powerful personal testimonies in Christian music right now.
ONE MORE THING WORTH DOING
Before the music and the movies - read Luke 23. The full crucifixion account, from trial to tomb. It takes about ten minutes. Nothing else on this list hits the same way after you've done that first.
Good Friday is not a sad day. It is a costly one. The weight of it is exactly what makes Easter Sunday mean something.
