Dennis Quaid has been in Hollywood for over four decades. More than 125 films. Blockbusters, biopics, faith-based hits. And yet, when someone recently brought up the Oscars, his response was refreshingly simple.
"Who cares about that?"
The 71-year-old actor made the comment on the Out of Order podcast in March 2026, and it wasn't a throwaway line. It was a window into where Quaid's heart is right now - and it has everything to do with faith.
In a separate conversation with Pastor Greg Laurie, Quaid described a long spiritual search that took him around the world. He grew up Baptist, drifted away, explored other religions, and eventually came back to Jesus. "It was a personal relationship," he said, "which doesn't exist with the others."
That renewed faith has quietly reshaped his entire career. Instead of chasing awards, Quaid now lets meaningful work find him - and lately, that work has been unmistakably God-centered. Films like Reagan, I Can Only Imagine 2, and Soul Surfer reflect a man who has found his purpose beyond the red carpet.
Then came Fallen: A Gospel Record for Sinners, his debut gospel album released through Gaither Music Group. It debuted at No. 1 on the Top Christian/Gospel Albums chart and cracked the Top 15 on Billboard's Top 200 Christian/Gospel chart. A television special tied to the album aired March 29 on UPtv - just days ago - and is now streaming on GaitherTV+, featuring an intimate conversation with gospel legend Bill Gaither about redemption and second chances.
For a man Hollywood once measured by box office numbers, Quaid seems to have found a far better measuring stick.
Fallen: A Gospel Record for Sinners is available now on all major streaming platforms and on GaitherTV+.
