Country star Riley Green is officially stepping into one of television's most iconic red chairs. NBC has confirmed that Green will join Season 30 of The Voice as a first-time coach this fall, alongside returning fan-favorites Kelly Clarkson and Adam Levine.
Green announced the news with a playful social media post showing off his custom coach chair - complete with duck calls attached to the side, embracing the outdoorsman image that has helped make him one of country music's most recognizable personalities.
"I guess y'all can start calling me coach," Green joked.
The announcement video also featured a humorous voicemail from Clarkson welcoming Green to the show while simultaneously warning him about the competition ahead.
"I'm super stoked to coach alongside you," Clarkson said. "But needless to say... Team Kelly's gonna whoop that ass."
Fans immediately flooded the comments celebrating Green's addition to the show, with many saying his casting might bring them back to watching the NBC competition series regularly again. Even longtime host Carson Daly joined in welcoming the country singer to the Voice family.
The milestone 30th season is shaping up to be one of the show's biggest yet. Levine is returning following his Season 29 victory, while Clarkson will be back for another run after recently announcing the conclusion of The Kelly Clarkson Show later this year. NBC has not yet revealed the fourth coach.
Green joins the series amid a major career surge. The Alabama native first broke through with hits like "There Was This Girl," "I Wish Grandpas Never Died," and "Different 'Round Here" with Luke Combs. In recent years, he has become one of modern country music's most commercially successful artists, earning multiple chart-topping singles, CMA and ACM nominations, and a rapidly growing fanbase.
Outside music, Green recently expanded into acting with his debut on the CBS drama Marshals. He is also currently traveling across North America on his Cowboy As It Gets arena tour and is scheduled to appear at the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards.
