Country star Scotty McCreery is looking back with gratitude as he celebrates one of the biggest milestones of his career.
Fifteen years after first auditioning for American Idol in Milwaukee as a teenager, the Season 10 winner announced a brand-new retrospective project simply titled "15," set for release on July 17. The collection will feature highlights from across his career along with four brand-new songs.
In a heartfelt social media post, McCreery reflected on how quickly the journey has gone by.
"Fifteen years goes by like a flash," he wrote. "Some days it feels like yesterday when I did my initial American Idol audition in Milwaukee, while other days it feels like it happened a hundred years ago."
The country singer also used the moment to publicly acknowledge the role his Christian faith has played throughout his career.
"I've lived a lot of life, traveled millions of miles, and followed my dreams, all thanks to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, my family, my team, and all the fans who have supported me through these 15 years," he shared.
McCreery's faith has long remained central to both his public identity and his music. Over the years, he has openly spoken about growing up in church, prioritizing his faith while navigating the music industry, and seeking to stay grounded amid fame and success. His music has frequently included themes centered around family, gratitude, redemption, and small-town values.
Since winning American Idol in 2011 at just 17 years old, McCreery has built one of the most successful post-Idol careers in country music. He has earned multiple No. 1 country hits, became a member of the Grand Ole Opry, and developed a loyal fanbase through consistent touring and deeply personal songwriting.
In recent years, McCreery has also entered a new chapter personally, becoming a husband and father while continuing to evolve musically. His more recent projects have reflected those life experiences, including songs about marriage, fatherhood, faith, and the realities of growing older in the spotlight.
The upcoming "15" retrospective album appears set to celebrate not only the milestones of his career, but also the journey that began with a teenage audition that changed his life forever.
Pre-orders for both digital and physical versions of the album begin Friday
