According to a report from ChurchLeaders.com, Kevin James is opening up about a deeply personal season of prayer, fasting, and faith as he sought God's help for his daughter during a difficult health struggle.
The actor and comedian recently shared that he committed to a 40-day fast while praying for his daughter, who was experiencing severe tics and other challenges related to being on the autism spectrum. James spoke candidly about the experience during an appearance on actress and producer Siobhan Fallon Hogan's podcast, Catholics and Cappuccinos.
"It was a commitment I made to my daughter," James explained. "My daughter was having a tough time. She's on the spectrum and she was struggling and she was getting these tics, and we didn't know what to do at the time, my wife and I. So we were like, 'We just got to pray and fast.'"
Known for beloved roles in The King of Queens, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Hitch, and Grown Ups, James admitted the fast challenged him spiritually and personally because food had long been a way he coped with stress and emotional struggles.
"And it was one of those moments where I said, 'I'm just going to start fasting for this because there's nothing else I can do and, please help, God,'" he said.
The ChurchLeaders report also notes that James previously revealed on Joe Rogan's podcast that he fasted for more than 41 days, consuming only water and salt during the period of prayer and intercession for his daughter.
The conversation took place while James promoted his latest film Solo Mio, which also stars Jonathan Roumie. Roumie previously appeared on the debut episode of Fallon Hogan's podcast.
James' testimony has resonated with many Christians online, particularly parents navigating difficult medical and emotional situations with their children. His openness about fasting, dependence on prayer, and trusting God through uncertainty offered a rare glimpse into the actor's personal faith journey beyond Hollywood.
