More than a year after emergency brain surgery, Teddi Mellencamp is being honest about what recovery actually feels like - and it is not always peaceful.

The former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star shared on her Instagram Story that she woke up with what she described as "raging anxiety" ahead of another round of scans and immunotherapy. "Going for another round and scans on Tuesday," she wrote, adding a prayer hands emoji.

She was quick to add that the message was not about seeking sympathy - it was about honesty. "I just want everyone to know how grateful I am every day for the love and support you continue to send my way. It does not go unnoticed."

The update reflects where Mellencamp, 44, is right now: still in treatment, still facing the uncertainty of scan results, but still standing. She confirmed she has at least another year of immunotherapy ahead, continuing a regimen that has already delivered remarkable results.

As recently as October 2025, her doctors found no detectable cancer in her brain or lungs - a stunning turnaround from February 2025, when an emergency trip to the ER for what she thought were migraines revealed eight plum-sized brain tumors and lung metastases. She was in surgery within 24 hours.

That backstory matters. Mellencamp was first diagnosed with stage 2 melanoma in 2022. By early 2025, the cancer had progressed to stage 4, spreading to her brain and lungs.

She underwent more than 17 surgeries, radiation, and consistent immunotherapy. Complications along the way included a severe reaction to a new medication called Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. Through all of it, she has kept her followers updated - often from her phone, in real time, unfiltered.

What has carried her through is not only medical treatment. Mellencamp has openly leaned on her faith and her family throughout the journey. Her father, rock legend John Mellencamp, has spoken publicly about standing by her side.

In March 2026, she presented him with the iHeartRadio Music Icon Award - tearfully calling him the person who "pretty much saved my life." Her children have been active in her daily recovery, including helping with her hair as it grows back following surgeries. Her word for 2026, she shared earlier this year, is simply: grace.

The anxiety before scan days is real - and Mellencamp is not pretending otherwise. But so is the gratitude, and so is the progress.
