After months away from the spotlight, the chart-topping star returned to Instagram with a deeply personal update, revealing that he recently spent several months in rehab and has officially been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
In the candid video, Lil Nas X shared that he's been focusing on healing, spending time with family in Atlanta, reconnecting with friends in Los Angeles, and learning how to stay grounded after years of navigating life in the public eye.
"I've been in rehab for a few months," he explained. "I have a therapist now and a psychiatrist, which has been really helpful."
The Grammy-winning artist admitted that he suspected he had bipolar disorder for years but resisted seeking a formal diagnosis because he worried about how people would perceive him.
"I feel like I'd known for the past few years but I didn't want to admit to it because I didn't want to have to take medication and have people think differently of me," he said before joking, "I'm already Black and gay, like damn, God. Come on, gay, Black and bipolar? I'm living life on extreme hard mode."
While the revelation stunned many fans, the overwhelming response online has been one of support, with thousands praising the rapper for helping reduce stigma around mental health.
The update wasn't all serious, however. Lil Nas X also teased that his creative spark has returned and that new music is finally on the horizon.
"I'm doing much better, I'm feeling better," he said. "I'm creating freely, and there's less fear in my heart. I'm smelling the roses."
After seven years of nonstop success, controversy, and global fame, it sounds like the hitmaker is entering a new chapter - one focused on health, healing, and authenticity.
And for fans eagerly waiting for his next era? The message was clear: Lil Nas X is back, he's feeling better, and new music is coming soon.
