Christian rapper Lecrae is opening up about a deeply unsettling experience he says occurred shortly after the death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk, describing what he believes was a supernatural vision that left him shaken and searching for answers.

Speaking on a recent episode of his podcast Deep End, the Grammy-winning artist revealed that while traveling in Africa, he woke up in the middle of the night expecting to deal with what he thought was food poisoning. Instead, he says he encountered something he had never experienced before.

"The room turns purple, and I see Charlie Kirk being assassinated, blood coming out of his body," Lecrae recalled. "And I heard what, to me, was the voice of demons laughing."

According to Lecrae, the disturbing scene lasted only a moment before everything suddenly returned to normal.

"It was like the curtain closed and then the room went back to regular color," he explained.

What makes the account particularly striking is Lecrae's insistence that he was fully awake. The artist emphasized that he does not view the experience as a dream and admitted that it challenged many of his own assumptions.

"I've never had this experience in my life," he said, adding that his conservative theological background did not leave much room for encounters of this nature.

While some listeners have interpreted the story as a statement about Kirk himself, Lecrae was careful to clarify that he is not claiming special insight into the late commentator's spiritual status or legacy.

"I'm not saying that because I had the vision that Charlie was a martyr," he said. "I'm not saying I have the full understanding of it all."

Instead, Lecrae believes the experience highlighted something broader and darker about the growing hostility in modern culture.

"I think there's real dangers of us being so frustrated at each other that we take each other's lives," he said. "That's satanic and demonic."

The rapper also addressed criticism he received for not immediately commenting on Kirk's death. According to Lecrae, he was overseas when the tragedy occurred and wanted time to process what had happened before speaking publicly.

"People are knocking on my DMs asking me to have some commentary about what's going on in America right now," he said. "I'm slow to speak because I'm trying to process."

Lecrae stressed that he never personally knew Kirk and noted that the two had disagreements in the past. He recalled first becoming aware of Kirk after the conservative activist criticized him over his involvement in a voter outreach initiative connected to former Georgia Senate candidate Raphael Warnock.

Despite those differences, Lecrae strongly condemned the killing and expressed sympathy for Kirk's loved ones.

"I sincerely hate, condemn, and despise the fact that somebody would murder another human being for their difference of perspective," he said. "I grieve for the family of Charlie Kirk. I do. I think it's heinous."

The artist ultimately framed his comments as a call for Christians to reject violence and political hatred, pointing back to Scripture's larger message.

"We keep on trying to solve our differences and our grievances with violence and murder, since the beginning of time," Lecrae said. "Since Cain and Abel, this is what we do. And Jesus comes and says, it's not the way."

His remarks have generated significant discussion online, with supporters praising his honesty about the experience and others debating the nature of spiritual visions and warfare. Regardless of how people interpret the account, Lecrae's message remained consistent throughout the conversation: violence is never the answer, and followers of Christ should resist the temptation to dehumanize those with whom they disagree.
