Five-time GMA Dove Award-nominated songwriter and producer David Spencer has renewed his exclusive publishing agreement with Essential Music Publishing (EMP), extending a successful partnership that has helped shape some of Christian music's biggest recent hits while expanding his influence across pop, country, and sync licensing.
The renewal comes as Spencer continues an impressive career marked by more than a billion streams and collaborations with leading artists across multiple genres. His upcoming 2026 projects include Carly Simon's new radio single, "Howl," co-writing and producing Jo Dee Messina's forthcoming album Bridges, and contributing to the next release from viral pop duo Neoni, distributed through Virgin Music Group.
"David has risen to be one of the most sought-after writers and producers across CCM, Country, and Sync," said Jamie Rogers, Vice President of Essential Music Publishing. "We're genuinely excited and deeply grateful to continue this partnership as he creates music that reaches audiences around the world."
Spencer's songwriting catalog has become a fixture on Christian radio and the Billboard charts. In 2023, he received ASCAP Song of the Year honors for "In Jesus Name (God of Possible)," which spent nine weeks at No. 1 and became the longest-running debut single by a female artist in contemporary Christian music history. He later celebrated another chart-topper with Ben Fuller's "Who I Am" and has written songs recorded by artists including Seph Schlueter, Jamie McDonald, Sanctus Real, and Zach Williams.
Beyond Christian music, Spencer's work has appeared during major events such as the Super Bowl and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Most recently, he secured a global sync placement with Adobe featuring Sansol the Artist's song "Pocket Size."
Spencer also continues to play a significant role in developing new artists, serving as a key songwriter and producer for Neoni. Following the success of the duo's Gold-certified viral hit "Darkside," he remains instrumental in shaping their evolving sound and international reach.
Essential Music Publishing, a division of Provident Entertainment under Sony Music Entertainment, represents a catalog of more than 30,000 copyrights and over 80 No. 1 songs. The publisher is home to chart-topping worship and Christian hits from artists including Brandon Lake, Lauren Daigle, Phil Wickham, Seph Schlueter, and Elevation Worship.
