Terry Bradshaw Says Cancer Made Him Ask: "Am I Going to Heaven?"

NFL Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw says battling cancer twice didn't just test his body - it forced him to confront questions about his eternity.

"My thoughts were about dying. Am I going to heaven? Am I a good enough man? Have I been a good enough Christian? Have I been kind to people?" Bradshaw said, reflecting on the diagnoses in a recent podcast interview.

The four-time Super Bowl champion battled bladder cancer, followed by a rare Merkel cell cancer that required surgery removing 27 lymph nodes and six weeks of radiation. Bradshaw said death itself never frightened him - but the experience pushed him to lean more heavily on his Christian faith than ever before.

"I know I'm going to die," Bradshaw said. He added that when that day comes, his strength will come from facing it with grace and the assurance that God loves him, and the hope of being reunited with his family in heaven.

Surviving cancer twice has also reshaped how Bradshaw wants to spend the years he has left. He said he wants to love his wife, Tammy, more deeply and make the time with his family count.

For Bradshaw, the two battles turned eternity from an abstract idea into something deeply personal - questions of whether he's loved by God and where he's headed when life ends. Today, he says he faces those questions with confidence rather than fear.

Bradshaw's reflections come ahead of the October 13 release of his memoir, "Looking for Terry," his first in more than two decades, which will explore his football career, his struggles, and his faith.
