Katie Piper is getting a wave of public support from fellow celebrities after speaking out about the cruel comments she received following her National Television Awards appearance - a moment she says only strengthened her resolve to keep living the life she believes God intended for her.
Piper captioned her original Instagram post: "I know who I am, and who I am not, but do you know who you are?" The response was immediate. Fellow Loose Women panelist Myleene Klass, who was with Piper at the NTAs, wrote that Piper's company and energy that night made the evening special, adding that the trolls "don't matter."
Singer Dannii Minogue also weighed in, telling Piper that her kindness and character were things to be proud of, and encouraging her to take time for herself without letting critics dim her light.
Piper, 42, survived a horrific 2008 acid attack that left her partially blind and requiring years of reconstructive surgery, and has since become one of the UK's most prominent advocates against domestic violence and online cruelty. She's spoken previously - including on the BBC's Songs of Praise - about the faith that carried her through recovery, a thread she returned to directly in her response to this latest round of abuse.
The support from friends and fans continues to grow across her social media, even as Piper says the broader problem - women targeting other women's appearances online - remains one she hopes her story can help change.
