Morgan Wallen was shut out of every major category at the 2026 CMA Awards, and fans are calling the snub the latest chapter in what's become a running feud between the country superstar and the industry's biggest award show.
Wallen received no nominations for Entertainer of the Year or Male Vocalist of the Year, despite a sold-out 23-stadium "Still The Problem" tour and 14 non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200. His only recognition came through two Musical Event of the Year nods for collaborations - "I Can't Love You Anymore" with Ella Langley and "McArthur" with HARDY, Eric Church and Tim McGraw.
Fans quickly flooded social media, with one calling the nominee list "a popularity contest" rather than a true measure of who's dominating country music. Others pointed out that Wallen has sold out arenas nationwide while artists with fewer commercial numbers landed top nods.
Speculation briefly spread online that Wallen may have withdrawn himself from consideration, but the CMA quickly clarified that isn't possible - its rules don't allow artists to remove themselves from the ballot at any stage, unlike the Grammys' opt-in process.
This isn't new territory for Wallen, who's the son of a Southern Baptist preacher and has spoken candidly for years about his faith shaping who he is, even amid his complicated relationship with the industry's award circuit. He was similarly shut out at this year's ACM Awards despite multiple nominations, continuing a pattern fans say increasingly proves listeners - not longtime institutions - are the ones truly crowning country music's biggest stars.
Wallen has not publicly addressed the CMA nominations.
