'Reacher' star Alan Ritchson and his wife of 20 years, Catherine, announced Saturday that they are ending their marriage, sharing the news in a joint statement posted to Instagram.
"After twenty years together, Cat and I have decided to end our marriage and continue alongside one another in a different way," the couple wrote. The high school sweethearts said they built "a life and a family together," and that their three sons "will always be the center of our world."
The 43-year-old actor and his wife did not disclose a reason for the split, instead emphasizing mutual respect and their commitment to co-parenting. "Nothing can diminish what these years have meant to us - or the love and respect we will always share," they said. "The best gift we can give one another - and our boys - right now is friendship, grace and a commitment to becoming the strongest co-parents we can be."
The pair also asked fans and media for space as their family adjusts. "Change is hard enough without the whole world weighing in," they wrote, asking followers to let them move through "this chapter with privacy and compassion."
According to court filings cited by TMZ, Ritchson initially filed for divorce in December before the couple briefly reconciled in March.
Ritchson, best known for playing Jack Reacher in Amazon's hit series, has kept his family life largely private throughout his rise to stardom.
