Yes, in effect. Jay-Z's company, Roc Nation, helps choose the Super Bowl halftime performers, and the headliner for Super Bowl LXI on Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium is Jay-Z himself, according to the NFL's announcement.

Roc Nation partnered with the NFL in 2019 to produce the halftime show and has helped pick its performers since, from Jennifer Lopez and Shakira to Kendrick Lamar and Bad Bunny.

It's an NFL event, and Roc Nation co-produces it under a partnership with the league. Reports said Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Harry Styles were also considered.

Complex reports the Super Bowl pays halftime performers only union scale, while Roc Nation is compensated by the NFL for producing the show.

Has he performed there before? Not as a performer. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said his one request when the partnership began was that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day. Some fans have pushed back online, accusing him of booking himself.

Earlier this year, 20-time Grammy winner Kirk Franklin said he would not want to do the halftime show alone, but would consider a "gospel Avengers"-style group moment. No guests have been announced for Jay-Z's show, so any gospel moment is only speculation for now.
