Is the No. 1 Song on iTunes’ Christian Chart Made by AI? What We Know About “Tell Me, How Is Heaven?”

An AI-made gospel-style song, "Tell Me, How Is Heaven?" by May the Lord Studio, has reached No. 1 on iTunes this week, and Christian music fans are asking who, or what, is behind the songs they play. Here is what is confirmed.

The song topped Apple's US iTunes Top Songs chart on Nov. 3, and the studio says it uses AI. Showbiz411 reports it was made on the Suno platform, was released in July, and is about grief and loss. An Oct. 27 video labeled "live in concert" says in its description that it is an AI-generated visualization and not a real performance. The AI disclosure appears on the studio's website, not on the store page.

Is this the first AI song to top a Christian chart? No. Last year, an AI-generated act called Solomon Ray became the first AI artist to hold the No. 1 album and song on an iTunes chart. Worship artist Forrest Frank responded then that "AI does not have the Holy Spirit inside of it." Solomon Ray's creator defended the project, saying God can use any vehicle to reach people.

How reliable is the chart? iTunes charts measure sales, and Apple does not publish the sales numbers behind them.

What should Christian listeners keep in mind? Scripture tells believers to test everything and hold fast to what is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21). A song about grief can comfort a hurting listener, and fans can reasonably want to know how it was made.
