Former NY Yankee Jason Grimsley Reveals How God Can Mend Brokenness in New Memoir
Former Major League Baseball relief pitcher Jason Grimsley has released his debut memoir "Cross Stitched: One Man's Journey From Ruin to Restoration." The candid title provides an intimate and heartfelt glimpse into the pro baseball player's wild and memorable 15-year career success, including his time as a member of both the 1999 and 2000 World Series champion New York Yankees. "Cross Stitched" is proof that God can take a broken person and put them back together.
"I simply want to tell my story in hopes that it might resonate and encourage you in your story," says Grimsley. "And it's a wild one full of near-death experiences and epic days of life and love. It's full of fights and friendships, my brushes with fame and the law, faithfulness and betrayal, family, and forgiveness, hope and loss, and baseball-from little league to the World Series."
Brutally honest, "Cross Stitched" leaves no stone unturned as Grimsley recounts memories, and unforgettable moments from his life. The upcoming title features a variety of stories from Grimsley's past which include both the highs and lows of pro baseball success as he confronts and addresses important issues that plague the mental well-being athletes face like failure, depression, and guilt - all of which he encountered along his personal journey.
From a hilarious story about scaling the outside of a hotel at 3 a.m. to opening up about hardships he's faced, including a botched suicide attempt, controversy surrounding the infamous doping scandal of 2007, and the near destruction of his marriage, "Cross Stitched" displays the very real and present love of God and the abundant life He offers us when we surrender to Him.
Adds Grimsley, "One thing I've learned through the years is whether I'm high or low, in heaven or hell, nothing can ever separate me from God's love. I hope this book shows you how to have hope on your worst days and experience God's redeeming love in your life every single day."
To give back and help others, Grimsley will be donating 100 percent of book proceeds to benefit Emerging Grace Ministries, a non-profit organization that is helping to eradicate adolescent sex trafficking.
