Contemporary Christian artist Austin French is opening up about the formative faith moment that continues to shape both his life and music: learning what it truly means to seek God with all his heart.
After giving his life to Jesus in eighth grade, French recalls becoming "a sponge for the truth," deeply impacted by his youth pastor's teaching on Jeremiah 29. While the well-known promise of Jeremiah 29:11 offered hope, it was verses 12-13 that struck him with lasting force: "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
That message, French says, landed like a "thunderclap" in his heart.
In a season when earthly relationships-particularly with his father-fell short, French discovered that the influence and security he longed for could only be found in a faithful heavenly Father. Where people sometimes said, "I can't today," Scripture reminded him, "Jesus can."
From that moment on, the Bible became more than a book-it became a place of encounter. French began opening Scripture not just to read, but to truly seek God, speak with Him, and listen. In moments of heartbreak, confusion, and uncertainty about both his future and his past, he found comfort in knowing he could call on the God of the universe-and that God would listen.
"I didn't need all the answers," French reflects. "I just needed to seek Him."
That posture of dependence and pursuit has become a defining thread throughout French's journey, shaping his songwriting, ministry, and connection with listeners who resonate with his honest faith and vulnerability. His story continues to invite others into a deeper trust in God-not based on having life figured out, but on faithfully seeking Him in every season.
As French challenges his audience, the question remains deeply personal and timely: What does seeking God look like for you right now?
