The Wait Is Over! ‘House of David’ Lands Season 3 Renewal at Prime Video

David's story is far from over.

Just as fans were wrapping up Season 2, Prime Video has officially renewed House of David for a third season, promising to take viewers into one of the most dramatic and dangerous chapters of the future king's life.

The renewal was announced Friday by Prime Video alongside cast members, including star Michael Iskander, who has won praise for bringing the young shepherd-turned-warrior to life.

But if viewers thought defeating Goliath was the biggest hurdle David would face, Season 3 is set to prove otherwise.

According to the official synopsis, the next chapter follows David after his greatest victories as he becomes a hunted fugitive, forced into exile while fleeing those determined to kill him. Before wearing Israel's crown, David must survive betrayal, deception, and life among his enemies-a season that promises to explore the heavy price of destiny rather than its rewards.

Series creators Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn thanked fans for helping turn the biblical drama into an international hit and teased that the story is only getting bigger.

"We are incredibly grateful to fans around the world who have embraced House of David," they said. "Season Three follows David through one of the most defining chapters of his life, and we're honored to share this next chapter."

They added that whether audiences know David's story from Scripture or are discovering it for the first time, they hope the series continues to show why his journey has captivated generations.

Wonder Project CEO Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten also celebrated the renewal, saying the company is focused on building lasting franchises based on timeless stories that both inspire and entertain.

The announcement comes after the show's breakout success. According to the studio, the first season attracted more than 40 million viewers, making it one of the biggest faith-based streaming hits in recent years.

Iskander recently reminded fans that the series is about much more than David's famous showdown with Goliath.

"People forget David was a warrior," he said. "He was a king. Kings back then went and fought."

He also argued that the show's appeal extends well beyond religious audiences.

"Not only is it a biblical story-it's just a really good story, period," Iskander said. "It's epic. It's filled with so much action and romance, with everything that anyone could ever want."

With David now heading into exile and the throne still out of reach, Season 3 looks poised to tackle some of the Bible's most intense political intrigue, dangerous escapes, and personal sacrifices-setting the stage for the shepherd's long road to becoming Israel's greatest king.

Seasons 1 and 2 of House of David are currently streaming on Prime Video.
