Country star John Rich is urging Christians to pray for KISS legend Gene Simmons after the pair shared an unexpected prayer together-and it isn't the first sign that the rock icon has been engaging in conversations about faith.
Rich recently revealed that he held hands with Simmons aboard his tour bus and prayed that Jesus would reveal Himself to the legendary bassist.
"On my tour bus, I just held hands and prayed with Gene Simmons that Jesus would make himself known to him in such a way that he couldn't deny him. Pray that Gene gives his life to Christ. God's will be done."
The heartfelt request quickly went viral, with supporters praising Rich's boldness while others questioned why he singled out a celebrity.
When one critic accused him of putting famous people on a pedestal, Rich simply replied, "The Spirit moved."
Another commenter suggested Simmons becoming a Christian would be as miraculous as Saul's conversion in the book of Acts.
Rich agreed that no one is beyond God's reach.
"Saul/Paul is the perfect example. It CAN happen."
The conversation has drawn fresh attention to Simmons' complicated spiritual journey.
Despite decades of rumors claiming KISS stood for "Knights in Satan's Service," Simmons has repeatedly dismissed the urban legend. While his larger-than-life stage character, "The Demon," is famous for breathing fire, spitting fake blood, and wearing intimidating bat-like armor, Simmons has insisted those theatrics have nothing to do with devil worship.
In one of his most quoted remarks, Simmons flatly rejected the accusations.
"I don't worship the devil. I worship myself."
The rocker has also been remarkably candid about his personal life over the years, openly discussing his struggles with sex addiction and famously claiming to have slept with more than 5,000 women during his career.
But behind the makeup and decades of rock-and-roll excess, Simmons has also been quietly engaging in conversations about Christianity.
Celebrity evangelist Dylan Novak has shared the Gospel with Simmons on multiple occasions and recently revealed that he presented the KISS icon with a personalized Bible bearing his name.
According to Novak, Simmons wasn't dismissive-instead, he asked thoughtful questions about Christianity and showed curiosity about the claim that Jesus is the promised Messiah.
Those conversations, combined with Rich's recent prayer, have prompted many Christians to wonder whether the rock legend could be on a spiritual journey few ever expected.
Simmons has never publicly professed Christian faith, but his willingness to engage in discussions about Jesus has continued to intrigue believers.
For now, Rich is keeping his request simple: pray.
Whether the man behind one of rock's most infamous stage personas will one day embrace the faith remains unknown, but Rich's public appeal has already turned Gene Simmons into an unlikely focus of prayer for Christians around the world.
