Christian singer Mike Donehey has issued an urgent prayer request after revealing that his wife, Kelly, may require emergency surgery for a herniated disc in her neck.
The Tenth Avenue North frontman admitted that he had never wanted to use his public platform for such a deeply personal appeal. However, after watching Kelly endure five days of worsening pain, the singer decided it was time to ask friends and followers to pray.
"Kelly is tough," Donehey wrote, explaining that his wife delivered four children without pain medication. He also described her as "profoundly private," making her willingness to let him share the crisis publicly an indication of just how serious the pain has become.
According to Donehey, Kelly initially woke during the night crying out in agony. The family waited several days, hoping the pain would subside, but her condition only deteriorated. An MRI reportedly revealed a herniated disc in her neck, and doctors offered a tentative diagnosis that surgery would be necessary.
Although a date for the operation had not been confirmed when Donehey shared the update, he said doctors warned that the condition would only worsen without surgical intervention.
"It's a particular kind of hurt to watch the one your soul loves crying in need of relief," he confessed.
Donehey then turned the frightening family moment into a simple appeal to the Christian community: "Please pray with me that God provides it."
The couple have been married since 2001 and share four daughters. Donehey has frequently spoken and written about marriage, family life, faith and the painful lessons hidden inside ordinary relationships. This time, however, he was not offering a polished reflection from the other side of a struggle. He was inviting supporters into the uncertainty while his wife was still waiting for relief.
No reliable public update confirming the timing or outcome of Kelly's surgery had emerged at the time of publication. Fans are being asked to pray for effective treatment, wisdom for her medical team, freedom from pain and strength for the entire Donehey family.
