Carson Daly is setting his alarm for another morning at NBC.
The longtime television host has been named co-anchor of Saturday Today, expanding his role on the network's morning franchise to six days a week. He will make his official debut on Saturday, November 7, alongside co-anchor Laura Jarrett, feature anchor Joe Fryer and meteorologist Angie Lassman. Daly will continue his weekday appearances on Today.
"I'm thrilled to add 'Saturday Today' to my weekday morning schedule," Daly said in a statement.
The new assignment comes with a playful adjustment to his family routine.
"My kids asked if I'll still make pancakes. I told them yes, but I'll be making them for Laura, Joe and Angie instead," he joked.
"I'm equal parts grateful and excited for this opportunity," he added.
Daly fills the position previously held by Peter Alexander, who left NBC earlier this year to join MS NOW. After recently appearing alongside Jarrett as a substitute, Daly will now become a permanent member of the Saturday team.
The appointment builds on a television career spanning music, late-night interviews, entertainment news and live competition. Daly became a familiar face to MTV viewers through Total Request Live before hosting NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly, which ended in 2019 after 18 seasons. He joined Today in 2013 to lead its Orange Room and later became a regular presence through the entertainment segment Pop Start.
His expanded morning duties will also run alongside his work as host and executive producer of The Voice, a position he has held since the singing competition launched in 2011.
