Colorado Christian University to Help Lead Inaugural Colorado March for Life
The Centennial Institute at Colorado Christian University (CCU) is excited to announce that the university has been selected to help lead the inaugural Colorado March for Life, hosted by the National March for Life organization and Pro-Life Colorado.
"At CCU, we believe in the sanctity of life at all stages, and that includes protecting those who are unable to protect themselves," said Eric Hogue, CCU president. "I am so excited that CCU students have been selected to help lead this momentous event in our state and demonstrate our uncompromising stance for the right to life in our community."
The Colorado March for Life will take place on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Colorado State Capitol in Denver. CCU students will sing the National Anthem during the March for Life Rally and lead a pre-rally worship service.
For 18 years, it has been a strategic priority of the university to impact culture in support of the sanctity of life. As part of this effort, the Centennial Institute publicly advocates for policies that promote human flourishing at all stages of life, including rights of the preborn, while also training students to be pro-life leaders in their communities.
In 2023, CCU registered "Pro-Life UTM" as a trade name with the Colorado Secretary of State and has submitted it as a federally registered trademark (pending). CCU for Life is one of the largest and most active student ministries on campus, having been named the top student club of the year. Each year, dozens of CCU students travel to the national March for Life in Washington, D.C., to rally in support of the sanctity of life and attend trainings to better serve their communities.
"As a student, this is extremely important to me," said Jasmine Obrecht, CCU for Life club co-president. "Not only do we get to show the rest of the student body what we stand for, but we also get to show the greater Denver metro area and Colorado community what we believe as students. Helping lead this march is the opportunity of a lifetime. We are making history in the pro-life movement!"
Colorado was the first state to decriminalize abortion in April 1967. As of April 2022, Colorado has legalized abortion up until the moment of birth for any reason and denied legal status for embryos and fetuses. Recent legislation actively targets abortion pill reversal measures and pregnancy resource centers.
