Worship leader and songwriter Alexander Pappas begins 2026 with a bold declaration of praise and surrender on his new single, "Hands Up," out today via Integrity Music. The track introduces a new chapter in Pappas' solo journey and sets the tone for his forthcoming EP, SUNDAY, arriving this spring.

Written during a Hillsong Young & Free writing camp, "Hands Up" emerged in a season marked by cultural uncertainty and shifting definitions of truth. Rooted in John 14:6, the song centers on the conviction that Jesus remains unchanging-"the way, the truth, and the life"-regardless of the surrounding noise. Rather than responding with fear or retreat, "Hands Up" answers confusion with worship, inviting believers to physically and spiritually reorient themselves toward Christ.

Driven by bright melodies and anthemic energy, the song captures worship as a daily posture rather than a momentary experience. From the first breath of the morning to the final prayer of the day, "Hands Up" reflects a faith that grows deeper through repetition, dependence, and praise. It celebrates the freedom found in lifting one's hands-not as performance, but as surrender.

"Through simplicity, I hope people recognize the authority and freedom that come from a life of surrender," says Pappas. "Even on our worst days, God's mercy meets us again. When we praise the name of Jesus with our lives and decisions, we step into the freedom He's designed for us."

"Hands Up" follows Pappas' 2025 release "Everything With Breath," which will also appear on SUNDAY. Together, the songs form a worship project shaped by rhythm and return-reflecting the cadence of weekly gathering, formation, and renewal.

A founding member of the twice GRAMMY-nominated collective Hillsong Young & Free, Pappas has helped write some of the most influential worship songs of the past decade. His credits include multiple CCLI-charting anthems such as "Alive," "Wake," "Real Love," "Echo" (Elevation Worship), and "A Great Awakening," songs that continue to serve churches worldwide.

Now based in Los Angeles, Pappas remains committed to writing music that strengthens the Church with clarity, joy, and theological depth. With SUNDAY, he offers worship not as spectacle, but as formation-songs designed to carry believers through ordinary days with extraordinary hope.

"Hands Up" is available now on all major streaming platforms.
