Four months after her disappearance, the search for Nancy Guthrie is showing no signs of slowing down - and the family may now be taking matters into their own hands.
New reports surfaced Friday that Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie has reportedly hired a private investigator in connection with her mother's case. A retired FBI agent, responding to the news in an exclusive interview with Parade, weighed in on the development - offering perspective on what private investigators can and cannot accomplish alongside an active federal investigation.
The report comes the same day the Pima County Sheriff's Department issued its first official statement in more than two weeks, confirming that forensic testing, DNA analysis, and review of home security footage are all still ongoing. "We're not giving up," Sheriff Chris Nanos previously told KGUN-TV in a direct message to the Guthrie family.
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was abducted from her Tucson, Arizona home on February 1. A reward of over $1.2 million remains active for credible information. Anyone with tips is urged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
Nancy was a woman of deep faith, known by family and friends for never missing her Sunday morning church livestream - the very absence that first alerted loved ones something was wrong. Those who have followed this case continue to hold the Guthrie family in prayer.
