"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz reunited on the blue carpet at the 2026 Emmy Awards on Monday, ahead of presenting an award together inside the ceremony. Gellar, who played Buffy Summers for all seven seasons of the cult series, wore a sleeveless pink gown; Boreanaz, who played her centuries-old vampire love interest Angel, wore a black suit.
The reunion comes just months before "Buffy" marks its 30th anniversary in March 2027, and it wasn't the only nostalgic pairing at this year's ceremony - "Charlie's Angels" stars Kate Jackson, Cheryl Ladd, and Jaclyn Smith also reunited to mark that show's 50th anniversary.
According to AOL, the sight of Buffy and Angel back together led some red carpet interviewers to jokingly ask whether the two would share a kiss for old times' sake, a nod to one of TV's most famously star-crossed romances.
Off-screen, Gellar has described her real relationship with Boreanaz as far lighter than their characters' ever were. "We still are when we get together. It's just a very goofy, silly relationship," she told PEOPLE earlier this year, adding that their easy friendship let them fully disappear into Buffy and Angel's intensity on camera.
Nearly three decades later, that friendship is still going strong - a reminder that some bonds, on screen or off, are built to last.
