Christian singer and songwriter Leanette Lopez has released "I Find Rest" to Christian radio, offering listeners a Scripture-inspired song about finding peace, comfort and trust in God through difficult seasons.
Written by Lopez and her daughter, Kristen Judd, and produced by Jerroll Lehman and Jonathon Rangel, the Inspirational and Christian Soft AC song draws from Psalm 23 and its familiar picture of God as the Shepherd who leads, restores and remains present through every valley.
The song became particularly personal for Lopez and her family during its recording. Her father, a minister who had been in remission for seven years, became ill again while the song was being developed. He had also contributed to the song before his passing and requested that Lopez and her daughter sing "I Find Rest" at his funeral.
That experience gave the Psalm 23-inspired song a deeper meaning. Beginning with the image of "the valley of a broken heart," the song moves toward surrender and confidence in God's care, with the recurring message of "You know best" and "I find rest" at its center.
Lopez's ministry spans more than three decades. An author of five books and creator of 50 original songs, she has shared the message of Jesus Christ through music and preaching. Her ministry combines her study of Scripture and human behavior with a desire to encourage listeners through songs of faith and hope.
With "I Find Rest," Lopez brings a personal testimony of trusting God into a song shaped by one of Scripture's best-known passages. Its message points listeners toward the comfort of God's presence even amid grief, uncertainty and life's darkest valleys.
