Rodney Atkins Brings Hope in These Troubled Times with Anne Murray's "A Little Good News"

Rodney Atkins

Rodney Atkins is set to make a return appearance on TODAY Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021. Atkins will perform his version of "A Little Good News" during TODAY with Hoda & Jenna. Watch the video of the song HERE.

"A Little Good News" was first recorded by Anne Murray. It was released on September 1983 as the lead single from the album of the same name. The song was written by Tommy Rocco, Charlie Black, and Rory Bourke and it was Anne Murray's seventh #1 hit on the Billboard country chart.

In March of 2020, as COVID-19 continued to spread and civil unrest was a daily reality, Atkins was haunted by the lyrics to "A Little Good News" and began recording it at his home. "I couldn't stop thinking about it," Atkins shares. "I just really wanted folks to hear it say 'that this world has gone crazy before and we got through it and we will get through it again.'...My biggest hope for this song is that it can really lift some folks up, and remind us that it's all going to be okay."

Atkins first released his official music video for "A Little Good News," which shows various clips of devastating scenes depicted in the news during 2020, on Jan. 9, 2021. Within the first 6 hours of the Saturday release, the video had accumulated thousands of views, likes, and shares - those numbers have since grown to over half a million views, with an astounding over 70% share-to-like ratio. Watch the video HERE.

"A Little Good News" will be available to stream or purchase on Jan. 28, 2021. Pre-save, pre-add, or pre-order the song HERE.
